We're huge fans of makeup artist Suresh's style: sleek, soft and modern. His GlossLUXE lipglosses are a mainstay in our makeup bag, and his newish line of lipsticks, flecked with crushed diamonds, rubies, amethysts and yellow garnets, are our newest obsession.

This year’s Incredible Feast lived up to its name, as more than 25 chefs paired up with superstar farmers, ranchers and cheese makers on Sunday at Swanson’s Nursery. Chef Tamara Murphy dreamed this dealie-o up years ago as a way to showcase the incredible edibles that show up at the Seattle Neighborhood Farmers Markets. Man, we are lucky to live here!

While the last week or so saw its usual share of food news from relative newbies – Marination Ma Kai opening, Chino's closing and the answer to the is-it-or-isn't-it Fuji Bakery mystery – two grand-dames of the Seattle restaurant world were quietly kicking off new chapters in their very admirable histories.

Sure, it’s hard to exchange a very sunny summer for fall’s less-bright horizons. But think of all the fun fall highlights:pretty leaves fluttering in the breeze, soft and warm autumn sweaters and, of course, the following five drinks. Each of these is bound to make you enjoy fall a little more—even if they might not completely make you forget summer.

Do you eat wild salmon? Then, chances are you’ve enjoyed fish from Alaska’s beautiful Bristol Bay, where massive fisheries produce roughly half of the salmon that shows up on plates around the U.S. That’s one thing I learned when I showed up to a press conference yesterday at Seatown, called to discuss the threat to that habitat by the proposed Pebble Mine project.

Same sex marriage is not only on the November ballot in Seattle, it's on the minds of people all over the country. As was pointed out in our current story on local same sex couples, this is the civil rights issue of our time. (If you haven't yet, be sure to watch Seattle hip-hop star Macklemore's new and lovely video, Same Love, in support of gay marriage.)

Last week was Fashion Week at the Bellevue Collection, and as always, the shows were well attended, well produced and gave the area’s best-dressed glitterati a chance to bring out their bling, don their Louboutins and get a good look at fall trends through the lens of Vogue magazine and Bellevue Collection retailers.

Tonight brings the first of four presidential debates, which will no doubt set the tone for all future water cooler discussion around the Obama vs. Romney political race. Jim Lehrer hosts and the topics have been announced as follows: The Economy, parts 1, 2 and 3 (a new series from George R. R. Martin?), health care, role of government and governing.

Our sister magazine, Seattle Bride, is producing its first-ever Urban Unveiled on 10.11.12, having acquired the boutique wedding show from dynamic duo True Colors Events earlier this year. Typically, the words "wedding show" don't exactly convey images of opulence, glamour and celebration, but we assure you that Urban Unveiled is not your typical wedding show.

A bunch of amazingly talented chefs from around the country have convened in Seattle this week, and while there were plenty of meaty discussions and panels and tastings at the Chef’s Collaborative Sustainable Food Summit, the burning question many asked was, “Where are you going to eat?” The universal answer seemed to be: There’s not nearly enough time to try everything on everybody’s must-try, can’t-miss list.

The Southern restaurant from Heather Earnhardt we've been anticipating since spring (read more here) is finally, finally open. And what a tasty-looking menu! We can't wait to get our hands on an Auntie Annie biscuit sandwich with fried chicken, bread & butter pickles, mustard and honey ($7.50).

In August, the Space Needle announced its Top This contest, an open call for submissions of original designs that will temporarily decorate the top of the Space Needle—a celebration to culminate many celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Space Needle's existence and the 1962 World's Fair.
