Burke Museum's Empowering Women Artisan Market

Buy a blanket from Haiti Babi and support a woman and her family in Haiti

This weekend, July 20 and 21, spend your time and money on things that help women from across the globe.

The Burke Museum on the University of Washington campus is hosting an artisan market in conjunction with their current Empowering Women exhibit. Six of the women-run artisan cooperatives highlighted in the exhibit from Nepal, Laos, India, Bolivia, Morocco and Rwanda will be at the market, demonstrating their basketry, printing and weaving skills, and for this weekend only, their work will be available for purchase.

In addition to the women from the exhibit, local organizations who work to empower women across the globe will have their wares for sale, including Haiti Babi baby blankets, which we profiled in the magazine, as well as items from Snow Leopard Trust, Awamaki and Women's Work.

For more info on this event, which is free with museum admission (which is free for members) visit the Burke Museum website.
