Ancestral Modern: Australian Aboriginal Art

The Australian Aboriginal culture boasts the longest continuous art tradition in the world—spanning 50,000 years—with work that is both ancient and contemporary, but the volume has spiked since the 1970s. This show celebrates the past 40 years of indigenous art, and features more than 100 artworks, including paintings on canvas, ochres on bark and sculptures carved of wood, woven of fiber and cast in bronze. En masse, the work reveals a renaissance of one of the world’s oldest living cultures.
