A Doll’s House

[CLASSIC] Being a Victorian housewife was kind of a drag; you might manage a household and even save your husband’s life and still be relegated to the position of pretty plaything (not to mention the corsets!). The Seattle Shakespeare Company’s take on Ibsen’s A Doll’s House and stars Jennifer Sue Johnson as Nora, a beacon for early feminism, and Michael Patten as Torvald, her patronizing husband. Ibsen’s many-layered symbol of the “doll” retains its relevance to contemporary discussions of women’s roles.
