Roméo et Juliette

[BALLET] The star-crossed lovers lace up their slippers in Roméo et Juliette, telling their timeless, tragic story by way of dance. Jean-Christophe Maillot’s 1996 rendition of the classic ballet, which last graced the PNB stage in 2008, focuses less on the political strife between the families and more on the universally tumultuous experience of being an adolescent. The extreme emotions, internal conflict and hormone rushes of the young couple are perfectly tuned to Prokofiev’s well-known score and set against vivid hues of black, white, gold and melancholy blue.
