A World of Paper, a World of Fashion: Isabelle de Borchgrave meets Mariano Fortuny

Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) visitors will have the rare opportunity to explore the work of acclaimed Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave at the museum’s lead exhibit for Fall/Winter 2013, A World of Paper, a World of Fashion: Isabelle de Borchgrave meets Mariano Fortuny. Over her 40-year career de Borchgrave has made a name for herself with her virtuosic use of paper. Painting, pleating, crumpling, braiding, and feathering, she manipulates rag paper into exquisite life-size historical costumes covering over 300 years of fashion from Elizabeth I to Coco Chanel.
