You can’t beat the price, originality and reuse ethos of using salvaged works for an entry. Second Use (SoDo, 3223 Sixth Ave. S; 206.763.6929; seconduse.com) is positively packed with all manner of new and vintage doors that were spared from the landfill, be it a slightly dinged faux-fir fiberglass number with leaded Craftsman-style glass ($125) or a vintage oak half-door with beveled glass ($445). (While you’re at it, be sure to poke into the trays of orphan knobs and other hardware ephemera; recent acquisitions included a modern Emtek exterior door lock set, $35, and a charmingly ornate vintage exterior lock set, $125.) Of course, as with any reuse warehouse, it’s catch as catch can, since the inventory is ever changing. But, then, half the fun of such shopping trips is the thrill of the surprise find.
