Ballard’s jam-packed 3-year-old Savour is a foodie’s wonderland: oils (including Lucero, available in bulk), pickles (including an array from Boat Street Kitchen), pastas, bitters (an entire shelf full, including locally made Scrappy’s), vinegars, salts (SaltWorks), chutneys, sauces, spices, curries, jams (Deluxe Foods, Blue Chair Fruit Company), honeys and olives (displayed in buckets submerged in ice in a long antique sink—Martha Stewart would approve). The cheese selection, most of them imported, includes funky Taleggio alongside ripe selections from California’s Cypress Grove (makers of famed Humboldt Fog), along with fine Spanish hams from Fermin meats and Olympic Provisions salami. On the menu: fine baguette sandwiches with ham, Manchego cheese, sticky fig jam and peppery arugula; or a BLT, made with Skillet Street Food’s bacon jam, Grafton cheddar, tomatoes and greens on a crusty grilled baguette. A glass of rosé feels just right, too, especially when sipped from Savour’s sidewalk cafe.
