An Eero Saarinen Womb chair in orange? Don't mind if we do.
First Look at the Brand New Design Within Reach Store
The freshly remodeled DWR near Pike Place Market bursts with classic pieces and plenty of color
Hello, gorgeous! Design Within Reach, Seattle's modern furniture and accessories mecca along First Avenue, has at last reopened with a revamped and resized interior--its footprint doubled to a whopping 5,000 square feet--and features loads more of its classic midcentury and modern pieces, exclusive collections and an expanded, year-round assortment of outdoor furniture.
I had the opportunity to preview the shop last week, and while I've always been a DWR loyalist, I really loved the upgraded shopability at the Seattle spot: Expect 17 fully decked out rooms that showcase how to create a layered look with your interiors; a swatch wall comprised of colorful and textural wall-mounted upholstery tiles that highlight all 3000 custom options available from Maharam, Knoll and Edelman to name a few; a multilevel, hanging light cloud that allows you to pick your pendant poison; and walls near dining tables dedicated to displaying complementary styles of dining chairs so shoppers can mix and match to their heart's content.
