Happy Go Techy Expo at UW

By Carolyn Yuen June 24, 2011

It’s not often that we encounter high-tech and high-fashion in the same square footage, but this weekend we’ll get the chance to see if it results in a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup style success. Sisters Mai and Tri Hoang, founders of the Happy Go Techy Expo, wanted to create an exhibition showcasing unique tech accessories, apparel, creative mobile apps, and other arty vendors in a cool, casual way. The community conscious duo are gathering startups and small businesses under one roof for this one-day social where attendees and vendors can meet, hang out, try the “Tech a Photo” photo booth featuring nerdy props, and engage in other tech-trendy kicks. Attendees will find quirky gadgets such as the FlashHarp, a fully functional 2-8 GB USB harmonica (in case memory storage makes you want to burst out in song) by BackyardBrand (also available on Etsy). Free. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; June 25; Mary Gates Hall at the University of Washington; 408.499.7472; happygotechyexpo.com
