It’s always sunny in Seattle.

At least that is what we hope for as we look forward to the estimated 152 days of coveted summer patio cocktails and beach bonfires at Golden Gardens. With Memorial Day just around the corner, it can be tempting to ditch the sunscreen and spend an entire afternoon soaking up the sun.

But it’s important to accept that a new season requires an update to our skin and beauty routine. So where to start? We have complied a list of our favorite must-haves that are either made or available right here in Seattle.

Skin Boost Serum, ($88). Canadian-based Skoah’s Skin Boost Serum is the perfect remedy for a newly sun-kissed face. The oil-free concoction packs a punch and rejuvenates skin with plant polypeptides, hyaluronic acid, sea kelp algae and bearberry extract.

Coco Rose Body Polish, ($36). Headquartered in Belltown, Herbivore has caught the beauty industry by storm with its plant-based, truly natural product offering. Their popular Coco Rose Body Polish is formulated with virgin coconut oil, Moroccan Rose, shea butter and pink clay to gently remove dead skin cells and leave skin glowing. Kiss your days of post-sun peeling goodbye.

“No Excuses” Invisible Sunscreen Gel, ($28). With Julep’s transparent, fast-absorbing sunscreen in your collection the days of figuring out how to combine make up with sunscreen are over. The lightweight gel goes on smoothly and dries quickly to a satin finish, meaning it’s perfect to wear under makeup.

Hydrating Tonic, ($38). Let’s face it, sometimes having too much fun in the sun leaves our skin needing a little extra hydration. Seattle-based Kari Gran created a Hydrating Tonic sans alcohol as a pick me up solution to parched skin. Simply spritz directly on your face when your skin needs a little extra love or use to set mineral makeup.

Lash + Brow Shampoo, ($15). More sun means more selfies. And we all know that a full set of eyelashes are the key to making your eyes photo-ready. Beauty Garde’s Lash + Brow Shampoo is an oil-free cleanser with an anti-microbial charcoal brush that will deep clean between lash extensions without pulling or tearing them.

Tissue Activator Serum, ($227). What is sure to become the foundation of your summer skincare regiment, Medical Beauty Research’s (MBR) Tissue Activator Serum is designed to generate collagen, protect again moisture loss, and increase elasticity. An added bonus: it boosts the effectiveness of your other products by allowing them to absorb deeper into your skin. (Available at Penelope at the Beauty Bar, 411 University Street; penelopeandthebeautybar.com

Urban Float Session, ($90). In between busy summer weekends, it’s always a good idea to take a moment to yourself. With locations in Capitol Hill, Fremont and Kirkland, Urban Float offers guests an opportunity to rest in a private, sensory-managed float pod in purified water with 1,200 pounds of Epsom salt to deliver clinically proven physical, mental and emotional benefits.

Change is inevitable. Let’s embrace it.

So, I shut up for the next minute or maybe even two. I stopped listening to what was being said and let my eyes wander around the studio before I began staring distantly at a spot on the wall above the window that looked out into the newsroom. I was like a pinball machine that
