In case anyone was trapped under a rock and didn’t notice, this equal sign meme went viral on social media yesterday as Facebook users replaced their profile pictures with it to show support for marriage equality.

The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is being reviewed by the Supreme Court today in a case about whether or not the goverment can lawfully withhold federal benefits from legally wed same-sex couples. The Washington Post has a comprehensive report on the case being heard today.

A rally is planned in downtown Seattle today from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m., outside the federal courthouse (700 Stewart St.), where organizers hope to show support for marriage equality in a positive demonstration.
