The Must List: PhinneyWood Festival and One Sublime Sale
Must Hit the Streets
PhinneyWood Summer Streets Festival
Friday (8/9, 6 to 10 p.m.) — Walkers and wheelers reign supreme during this evening-long closure of Phinney and Greenwood avenues (between 67th and 87th streets). A celebration of the season’s long, warm nights, the temporary pedestrian paradise will be punctuated with art, live music, circus performers—and, of course, street food.
Baby & Company’s Designer Closet Sale
(8/9 to 8/11, times vary) — Now in its fifth year, the Baby & Company designer closet sale spans three days and two locations, and is filled to the rafters with amazing deals on pre-loved clothes straight outta the closets of some of Seattle's most stylish dressers. Shop at the old Peter Miller space on First Avenue (8/9 and 8/10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and under the rocket outside Burnt Sugar in Fremont (at North 35th and Evanston Street; 8/11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). http://seattlemag.com/baby-companys-designer-closet-sale
Friday (8/9, 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.) — This edition of Seattle Art Museum’s Remix party goes open air, at the Olympic Sculpture Park, and boasts a lineup of multiple can’t-miss performances including Don’t Talk To The Cops!, one of Seattle magazine’s 2012 Best Bands, and cellist Paul Rucker, who will perform live atop Heather Hart’s cool new climbable installation “The Western Oracle: We Will Tear The Roof Off The Mother.” Plus, get creative and collaborate on a Kirigami wall garden during a workshop with local paper artist extraordinaire Celeste Cooning.
South Lake Union Block Party
Friday (8/9, noon to 11 p.m.) — The ninth installment of the SLU Block Party features food trucks and a beer and margarita garden. At dusk, unfurl your lawn chair for the outdoor movie: the nobody-puts-baby-in-the-corner ‘80s classic Dirty Dancing. All proceeds benefit the Center for Wooden Boats.
Must Drink and Win
Seattle magazine’s Island Imbibe Contest
(Through 8/10) — We’ve teamed up with three local spots—Rumba, Palisade and Salty’s at Redondo Beach—to host our cocktail throw down, Island Imbibe. From now until Saturday, August 10, order a Hawaiian cocktail at one of those three haunts, snap a picture of your islandy sip and upload it to the "Inside Seattle" Facebook page with the tag #islandimbibe and the name of the restaurant. The first 100 people to tag a photo will receive an invitation to our VIP Island Imbibe Cocktail Party on Wednesday, August 14 at Tango Restaurant, where you’ll have the chance to win a round-trip flight and five-night stay in Maui.
