Preserving the planet is a noble cause, but how do you know where to start? Enter Gina Diamond (206.499.1791; helpmegogreen.org), whose months-old Seattle business in the emerging field of eco-lifestyle coaching brings her into your home to examine every nook and cranny, looking for ways to up your sustainability quotient. Whatever your wish—to conserve energy or reduce the size of your trashcan (and the trash within)—Diamond, with interdisciplinary environmental training and a background in academic counseling, will recommend simple changes that jibe with your values. “It’s not about making people feel guilty,” says Diamond, whose green-savvy family of three was featured in a 2007 Seattle Times article on reducing one’s carbon footprint (their own can at the curb is shoebox-size). “It’s about setting one goal at a time.” Her philosophy of ongoing coach-client relationship ensures that even when you’re tempted to ask for a bag with your groceries, you’ll have Diamond’s voice in your head guiding you on the right path.
