Outdoor eating: Wherever you can steal a patch of concrete: Who cares if our streets aren’t quite as broad as the boulevards of Paris? Dining en plein air is the other side of the street-food phenomenon, and restaurants around the city are setting up outdoors (weather permitting), even where curbside real estate is limited: from tiny tables in front of Spinasse and the Sorrento Hotel’s Hunt Club to petite back patios at Poppy and Honore Bakery.

Revamped and sporting a new chef, Jason Dallas, the luxurious Hunt Club has taken a more Italianate approach to its menu, with options like gnocchi, carpaccio and lamb shanks to enjoy.
