Pioneer Square
This is Seattle's original downtown, completely destroyed by fire in 1889 and now a finely refurbished historic district full of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, art galleries, specialty shops (including the very browsable Elliott Bay Book Company) and restaurants. An abundance of old taverns and bars also keep the Square bustling into the wee hours of the morning.
