This statement probably comes as little surprise given our occupations, but the Seattle mag edit staff is full of paper geeks. We heart old-school letterpress, still believe in hand-written thank you notes and nothing delights us more than picking up our Ilee desktop calendars every December. Sure, we all spend our days hammering out words on a keyboard, but there is something imminently thoughtful and intimate about a paper gift from these local crafters- we’re betting your friends and family will agree.
To add on top:
Pike Street Press ‘Oh Snap’ letterpress cards
Pike Place Market Hillclimb’s newest treasure, Pike Street Press, taps into the slightly-frantic-but-trying-to-maintain-holiday-spirit of us all with their funny “Oh Snap! Happy Holidays” gingerbread man card.
Tutta Lou Press gift tags
Add a dose of sass to holiday packaging with Tutta Lou Press’ “It’s coal, I have my reasons” letterpress gift tags. Sold in sets of eight, each soft white paper tag is hand-letterpressed with red ink and comes with baker’s twine to tie onto your gift.
Ilee Papergoods’ 2012 desk calendar
As mentioned above, we have a fierce, undying love for Ja Teuber’s amazing letterpress calendars, crafted with scenes reminiscent of each calendar month’s best qualities. The petite, original pieces of art (which make excellent cards once the month is up!) come with their own plastic desk stand.
Nicopapergoods’ 2012 weekly planner
Bookbinder Andrea Kohler has got busy schedules covered with her book cloth bound 2012 planners, complete with weekly inserts on the inside, and cheeky, cute illustrations on the cover.
Tia Kramer paper jewelry
For a gift worthy of someone who has especially been nice this year, there is Tia Kramer’s jewelry. Crafted out of paper made from Philippine plant fibers, Kramer accents her colorful paper pendants with light and dainty silver circles. Custom orders available on her website, or stop into the Bellevue Arts Museum Store to pick up a pair of her earrings.
