Well, well, well!
We may have just two nominees to Portland's three in the running for this year's regional James Beard race (the winner will be announced in May), but lookie there: Food & Wine's list of the Best New Chefs of 2012 is out and two local chefs made the cut!
And Madison Park Conservatory's Cormac Mahoney, who told the magazine, "the next thing I want to do is figure out how to make the Tako Truk a brick-and-mortar spot. I want it to be a bar with eight items on the menu.” And so do we, Cormac, so do we.
Food & Wine got it right: Both chefs' restaurants were featured in our November Best New Restaurants issue. Just one other city--New York--had two chefs make the list. Congratulations, chefs!
Sorry, Portland: Only one chef on the list: Jenn Louis of Lincoln. Better luck next year.
