Chef Ericka Burke and cookbook author Amy Pennington’s June Chef + Gardener dinner had a full house and was a big hit! The next installment of the Chef + Gardener dinner series is Tuesday, July 23—the garden harvest plan has been set and the menu conceptualized.
Pennington and her company, GoGo Green Garden, began tending VPC’s garden last spring. She and Burke have developed a great chef-gardener relationship, and have been having a ball brainstorming ideas in preparation for the Chef + Gardener dinners.
Join the ladies and celebrate the bounty of the season—you might even pick up a few good ideas for ways to use all that zucchini or how to spice up a summer cocktail with herbs.
Dinner begins at 6pm with a garden tour and a seasonal non-alcoholic drink. At 6:30pm, guests will move into the cafe to enjoy the family-style meal at the communal table. Each dinner will showcase the progressing summer bounty from the garden as well as other locally sourced organic ingredients—really, whatever catches Burke’s eye.
The cost is $45/person, and includes a little takeaway gift—plus garden pointers and maybe even a recipe. Wine and beer will be available for purchase. Copies of Pennington’s books Apartment Gardening and Urban Pantry will be available for purchase.
Seating is limited, and reservations are required. Save the date for two more dinners on September 10 and October 22.
