Sometimes the minute I glance at a designer’s website or see their work in person a bell goes off in my brain: ding, ding, ding, we’ve got a winner. And that happened with Seattle-based jewelry maker, Rachel Ravitch.
Her work is interesting and makes a statement, but thanks to the materials she works with (leather, hand-dyed silk and horsehair), imminently wearable and somehow very soft.
Not to mention, her price points are very reasonable (from $40 for bracelets and from $95 for necklaces) for completely handmade-to-order works of wearable art.
Check out her website for more of her fantastic pieces and head to Cairo on Capitol Hill now for further investigation. The artist herself will be on hand on Monday, September 23 at 7 p.m. for a trunk show.
