King 5 posted this extremely helpful roundup today of local organizations that are accepting donations of all kinds--monetary, clothing, gas cards, food, etc.--for the people in Oso, Wash., who were affected by the mudslide. Among them are the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club, the Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation and even the Everett Animal Shelter, which is looking for food and supplies for small animals.
The Red Cross is also accepting donations here.
For active types, the Arlington Runners Club is hosting a Mudslide Benefit Run on April 26. Visit its Facebook page here for more information. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the 5k/10k will go toward the mudslide relief effort.
And on April 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Marysville YMCA is hosting its All-In Family Bike Ride with proceeds going to support the Oso community.
Seattle chocolate maker Theo Chocolate has teamed up with local restaurants Tilth, Agrodolce, Golden Beetle and Revel to sell raffle tickets for a chance to win a prize basket that includes Theo chocolate, four factory tour passes, Theo Chocolate University class admission and restaurant gift certificates. All the funds raised will be donated directly to the Snohomish County chapter of the American Red Cross. Raffle tickets are on sale through the month of April at Theo’s factory retail store or online here.
There's a benefit concert for the Oso landslide victims as well as Richard Newman, the passerby involved in the recent KOMO helicopter crash, on April 16 at Maggianos Little Italy in Bellevue. A $25 ticket ($30 at the door) includes live music from the likes of former Heart guitarist Roger Fisher and Seattle Orchestra cellist Rachel Beaver, gratis appetizers and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event will go to help Newman with some of his expenses, and to the Northwest Burn Foundation and The American Red Cross to assist victims of the Oso landslide. Go here to purchase tickets.
We'll update this post with any additional donation opportunities as we learn of them.
