The Easter bunny arrives on Sunday, and if you’re like a lot of folks, you haven’t given a second thought about making reservations for brunch. If going out to eat on holidays is your thing, here are some suggestions:
AGRODOLCE (709 N. 35th St.)
If an Italian Easter is your cup of tea, Maria Hines has got you covered at her Fremont restaurant. The three-course Italian-inspired menu features: St. Jude’s albacore tuna benedict with arzag egg, caper aioli and sundried tomato; asparagus omelet with pancetta, pecorina and béchamel; and bomboloni with pastry cream, citrus and caramel. GOLDEN BEETLE (1744 NW Market St.)
For a Mediterranean brunch, head north to Maria Hines’s Golden Beetle in Ballard. The three-course menu features: housemade yogurt with fruit, orange blossom water, mint and walnut; spicy Skagit River Ranch pork shank hash with potato, mama lil’s pepper, béchamel and poached egg; spring onion and wild mushroomsScramble with herbed feta, housemade harissa aioli, and beef fat-fried potatoes; and finally, a traditional bakalava. $25 per person. Autumn Martin and the Hot Cakes gang are opening at 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday with an array of their usual springtime specials — homemade biscuit sandwiches, quiches, granola — as well as some special Easter dishes: baked-to-order frittatas topped with house-made ricotta and sautéed asparagus; Crème Yvette and lemon curd milkshakes; vanilla rhubarb bread pudding and something called “Brunch Punch,” which can only be a good thing. No reservations required.
VOLUNTEER PARK CAFÉ (1501 17th Ave E.)
Owner Ericka Burke and her crew will be hosting a full day of Easter eating, starting with brunch from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by a special Sunday Supper at 6 p.m. Morning brunch will include things like a bacon and egg panini, bundt cake, Slate coffee and mimosas. Come afternoon, baker Emily Weeks whipping up hot cross buns, coconut cupcake nests, and little sugar cookies in the shapes of bunnies, eggs, and chicks (!!). The dinner menu includes: bread and butter service, little gem lettuce and radish salad; deviled eggs and pickled asparagus; leg of lamb with spring veggies; and orange ginger cheesecake with rhubarb compote. Chef Zach Chambers is putting out a special menu from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that includes seasonal dishes, a handful of Bar Cotto’s awesome pizzas, and some desserts.
