Vancouver B.C’s Meat and Bread is opening in Central Agency Building on Capitol Hill—the same building where John Sundstrom is opening three new projects this fall. The menu will contain just four daily offerings, such as a Middle Eastern spiced lamp with caper tomato sauce, roasted garlic aioli and romaine. CHS has details.
Il Terrazzo Carmine is getting ready to open their cicchetti bar on Monday. Intermezzo Carmine will occupy a 1,400-square-foot space next door to Il Terrazzo and will offer small plates, cocktails and wine. Hours of operation: daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Eater Seattle has intel on Magical Butter Studio, a marijuana restaurantscheduled to open soon in SODO. Like it’s food truck sibling, Samich, MBS will serve THC-laced foods including tomato soup and BBQ pulled pork.
Louie's Cuisine of China in Ballard is closing at the end of the month. Eater Seattle points out a telling Craigslist post, not to mention a banner announcing the news strung across their building. Louie’s has been operating since the 70s and, according to staff, has been sold. You have until June 29 to go say your goodbyes.
Pike Place Market
In honor of their golden anniversary (that’s 50 years!), Copacabana Café in Pike Place Market will serve complimentary tastes of their most well-known and loved dishes on the streets of Pike Place on June 19 from noon to 2 p.m. The restaurant will also host a week-long celebration from June 16-21 with food and drink specials, as well as complimentary appetizers (paella, soup, salteñas and more).
Serafina and Cicchetti are hosting their annual Garden Party and Serafina’s 23rd anniversary bash. The patio event will include a whole-roasted pig, grilled bites, an oyster bar, D’Ambrosio Gelato, the introduction of some of the new vintages of rosé and a photo booth. It all happens Sunday, June 29 from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Entrance to the garden party is free; food and drink tickets are $5 apiece. At 2 p.m. The Iron Bartender competition, hosted in Cicchetti, pairs food with cocktails from the city’s finest bartenders. While this event is sold out to judges it is open to viewers (and always draws a crowd). The bartenders hail from Tavern Law, Oliver’s Twist, Canon, La Bonne Franquette, Serafina and Cicchetti.
On June 18, Blue C Sushi will celebrate International Sushi Day by giving away free sushi for guests who snap and upload a #SushiSelfie with their local Blue C Sushi chef. Rules: The image should be uploaded to (pick one or more): Facebook, Twitter, Instagram with the tags @bluecsushi and #SushiSelfie. Next, show your server the post, and then select a dish of your choosing from the conveyor belt – FOR FREE! Fine print: limit to one dish per guest.
