Program to Award Local Residents Trips to Africa, Asia or Latin America
The City of Seattle Office of the Mayor and the Seattle International Foundation (SIF) are partnering to educate and mobilize local residents to join in the fight against global poverty by participating in the Seattle Ambassador program.
The Seattle area is home to a vibrant global development sector, comprised of more than 300 leading nonprofit organizations, businesses, government entities, academic institutions, and foundations making significant contributions to reduce global poverty and address crosscutting issues such as: health; economic development; education; environmental sustainability; gender equality; and human rights. This city-wide initiative will raise awareness about these local institutions working to alleviate poverty around the world and ask individuals to lend support to their efforts.
Seattle-area residents can text SEATTLE to 80088 to join Seattle Ambassador, or sign up at www.seattleambassador.com to receive updates about these organizations and learn about opportunities to get involved. All participants will be entered for a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to see firsthand how these organizations are improving lives in Africa, Asia, or Latin America.
Mayor McGinn will announce the first winner at a public event in June.
