This Fremont bar brings a Bonnie & Clyde–meets-Belltown aura to the former Triangle Lounge space

This Fremont bar brings a Bonnie & Clyde–meets-Belltown aura to the former Triangle Lounge space (3507 Fremont Place; 206.632.0880), thanks to owner Nate Rezac, who bought the place in June and transformed it into the perfect spot for plotting and scheming.

THE VIBE
Dark-hued and dimly lit, with pictures of 1930s and ’40s gangsters amid marble tables and deep booths, the bar attracts everyone from ankle-tattooed 20-somethings to be-suited office types. Silver cups filled with Trivial Pursuit “Baby Boomer Edition” cards await in every booth (though most of the clientele is too young to know the answers).

THE FOOD Sumptuous eats include steamed clams ($8), lamb sliders with caramelized onions, blue cheese and bacon ($8), and flank steak with bordelaise sauce and truffle fries ($14).

THE DRINKS
The cocktail menu is a tribute to gangsters of yore. Try a Bonnie & Clyde, made with Patron citron liqueur, Pyrat Planters rum, and muddled orange and lemon slices ($9), or the Lucky Luciano, a citrusy concoction of Absolut citron vodka, limoncello, fresh grapefruit and a splash of cranberry ($9). Truly dangerous characters will order a John Dillinger: a shot of bourbon and a cigarette ($9)—which you’ll have to smoke outside.

THE BATHROOM
There’s no sign of gangsters in the pink wallpapered women’s powder room. The men’s room, however, is papered with old-fashioned advice column clippings. Headliners: “The Rules of Lateness” and “How Many Times Can You Wear It Between Washes.”
