Well, well, well!

We may have just two nominees to Portland’s three in the running for this year’s regional James Beard race (the winner will be announced in May), but lookie there: Food & Wine’s list of the Best New Chefs of 2012 is out and two local chefs made the cut!

And they are: Blaine Wetzel, of the stellar Lummi Island Willows Inn, who called out our very own Cook’s Adventures columnist Langdon Cook’s blog, Fat of the Land, as his favorite website!

And Madison Park Conservatory’s Cormac Mahoney, who told the magazine, “the next thing I want to do is figure out how to make the Tako Truk a brick-and-mortar spot. I want it to be a bar with eight items on the menu.” And so do we, Cormac, so do we.

Food & Wine got it right: Both chefs’ restaurants were featured in our November Best New Restaurants issue. Just one other city–New York–had two chefs make the list. Congratulations, chefs!

Sorry, Portland: Only one chef on the list: Jenn Louis of Lincoln. Better luck next year.
