So THAT’S Why Top Chef’s Richard Blais was in Seattle
By Seattle Mag March 5, 2013
Previously on the Seattle Mag Blog, Allison Austin Scheff wondered why she’d spotted Richard Blais in Seattle, even (almost) guessing the correct reason:
Top Chef alum Richard Blais is in town; I spotted him Wednesday morning suspiciously close to the Dry Soda offices. Coincidence? Blais tweeted that he is, “Partnering with a Seattle based company! News to come soon! Thanks for all the twitter love. #warmwelcome.” Blais, who stood out on his two Top Chef seasons as fluent in modernist cooking techniques, owns two burger shops, a casual eatery and The Spence, a higher-end restaurant where the food looks dang good, all in Georgia. Is Blais working with the guys at ChefSteps? That’d be the obvious guess, or something with Myhrvold over at Intellectual Ventures. In any case, Blais isn’t saying yet. This’ll be fun to follow.
Today, she got her answer. The former Top Chef star has been named creative director of the Pioneer Square-based Dry Soda Co., creators of that all-natural bubbly treat we like best in the Rhubarb or Blood Orange flavors.
We’re looking forward to hearing more about what this new leadership will bring.
