Grab your tix quick for the second annual A.W.A.R.D. Show, in which 12 up-and-coming local dance companies compete for a grand prize of $10,000. (See our Spotlight story on page 46.) Just as they say on the reality shows, it’s up to you, America! A series of live Seattle audience votes will determine the winner. 8 p.m. Prices vary. On the Boards, 100 W Roy St.; 206.217.9888;

The Barber of Seville
Through 1/29 -
You may know Bugs Bunny’s version best, but Gioachino Rossini’s classic opera The Barber of Seville is funny even without the wascally wabbit. The story follows Count Almaviva, who, with the help of a clever barber named Figaro, must sneak, smuggle and trick his way past old Dr. Bartolo in order to win the heart and hand of the young and beautiful Rosina. The Seattle Opera production does Looney Tunes proud. Times and prices vary. McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St.; 206.389.7676;

Science Fiction + Fantasy Film Festival
1/30 (Sunday) -
The nerds have spoken. Organizers have added a second day to this wildly popular competitive showcase of 20 original short films (animated and live action) hosted by EMP/SFM. Tap into your inner sci-fi freak (and grad a copy of our February issue, an ode to all things geeky, savvy and smart) and get to know audiaself-loathing Trekkies and dysfunctional aliens, to name a few. A panel of industry pros, including Seattle’s own Lindy West, Barbara Brown and Ben Kasulke, ac determine which weirdness wins. 1/30 (1/29 is sold out). 4 p.m. $9–$15. Cinerama Theatre, 2100 Fourth Ave.; 206.770.2702;

Nap Time/All Over Session at Source Salon & Spa

At Source Salon & Spa, visitors are encouraged to postpone the harsh realities of the real world by booking a nap Time/All over session following their spa treatment. After hearing clients say, “I wish I could stay here” a few hundred times, owners Tia Cochran and Michelle Vierra started offering add-on naps to treatments last year. Snuggle into your robe right in the treatment room ($15 for 15 minutes), or head down the hall to the soothing quiet room—complete with its own couch and crisp linens—where you can nap at no extra charge until someone else insists it’s her turn for some z’s.
