Brunch has become the go-to way to pamper Mom on Mother’s Day, and why not? Nothing says I love you quite like a big platter of eggs bennies and potatoes fried golden with a mimosa on the side. Thanks for all you do Mom!

In this month’s print edition, we’ve rolled out a brand-new approach to our restaurant capsules, focusing on a different theme for each issue. The first-ever themed mini restaurant reports are a roundup of some of our favorite brunch spots. Of course, after the ink dried, the old email inbox was stuffed with news about special menus created just for Mother’s Day on Sunday. The following are a few more to consider. Fair warning: Do not waltz in to most places without a rezzie. Finding a table for Mother’s Day brunch can be like looking for a Valentine’s Day date on February 13.

Updated: In addition to its usual brunch fare, Blueacre Seafood is upping the ante with lobster eggs benedict. Plus, you can roam around downtown before or after because parking’s free with validation on weekends. (Enter at Seventh and Stewart.)

At Hotel 1000, BOKA’s Mother’s Day Brunch menu will be served in addition to its regular brunch menu from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Three BIG bonuses to spending Mother’s Day at BOKA are its $5 mimosas, its $5 Bloody Marys, as well as free valet. All moms will receive a rose and a swag bag with product samples and treats and there will be a drawing for a Spaahh treatment with every reservation made before May 12th will be entered to win.

For something a bit more casual, the brand new Relish Burger Bistro at the Westin is doing a special Mama Burger featuring Dungeness crab topped with apple slaw, avocado and baby greens, served on a fresh-baked bun from Macrina Bakery. Valet parking is comped at the hotel.

Cupcake Royale is scooping up free ice cream for Moms on Sunday. Sweet! We’re hooked on the Theo’s Malted Chocolate, but there are plenty of clever flavors at the shops that scoop. Or substitute a free homemade ice cream sandwich in West Seattle and Madrona, but take note! Sandwiches are limited to the first 100 moms in West Seattle & Madrona so come early!

Of course, Ivar’s is on board with the mission to make Mom feel special. Acres of Clams and the Salmon House will offer a lavish breakfast buffet for Mother’s Day  including roasted Alaskan salmon, fresh mussels, oysters and clams, Dungeness and snow crab, fish ‘n chips, roasted prime rib, a crepe station and all the breakfast usuals, such as bacon, eggs and waffles. At the Ivar’s at Mukilteo Landing, a full-service menu includes loads of luxe options including a trio of benedicts.

Cafe Flora’s annual Mother’s Day brunch offers a three-course seasonal vegetarian and vegan menu with all sorts of selections for $30 per person, and a kids menu for $15 per child, with gluten-, nut- and soy-free options available. Reservations are required for parties of all sizes. Call 206-325-9100. Brunch runs from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

At Chandler’s Crabhouse on Lake Union, Mother’s Day brunch includes options such as a Dungeness crab omelet, Market House corned beef hash and a spring lamb stew topped with a sunnyside up egg, accompanied by Schwartz Brothers Bakery coffee cake. The cost is $32 per adult. Children’s menus, for ages six to 10, are available for $10 and include choice of starter, French toast, scrambled eggs and bacon; children five years and younger are free and will receive French toast, scrambled eggs and strawberries. The special brunch menu is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sibling chefs Sophie and Eric Banh are celebrating with a special Mother’s Day addition to the dim sum brunch menu at Monsoon and Monsoon East their own mother’s favorite dish, dumplings. There will be both vegetarian and pork belly dumplings available during brunch, which is served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tilth is offering a special three-course Mother’s Day brunch for $25 featuring fare prepared from certified organic ingredients including asparagus salad, Quiche Lorraine and rhubarb French toast. Oh, and the amazing Theo chocolate ganache cake for dessert! Reservations: 206.633.0801 or online.

RN74 will offer a special Mother’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. that features a lineup of a la carte menu favorites including pastry chef Kim Mahar’s basket of goodies: banana walnut bread, bacon and cheddar scones and pecan sticky buns. If you’re in the eat-dessert-first camp, check out her hand-cut beignets with rhubarb coulis! Reservations: 206-456-7474.
