Heads up, Wedgwood. You lucky fools. We just received word that Ballard’s beloved Veraci Pizza will open a second outpost in the former Zaw pizza space at 7320 35th Ave NE called Veraci Pizza & Pasta Marketplace.

Owner Errin Byrd tells us that the tiny pizzeria – a mere 900 square feet, smaller than the original Ballard dining room – will have less than 20 seats and focus on fast casual dining and a large array of cold case grab-and-go items, including pastas with homemade Bolognese or marinara sauces, lasagna, chicken fettucine, and Beecher’s Macaroni and Cheese.

If you’re familiar with their lively vibe at the Ballard Farmer’s Market, it’ll feel a bit like that, Byrd says. They’ll have the same rotating menu of wood-fired Neapolitan-style specialty pizzas by the slice (mushroom, pepperoni, three cheese, etc) and you’ll also be able to order whole pies from the menu. We’re especially excited about a make-your-own-pizza kit featuring Veraci signature sauces and cheeses.

In addition to pizzas and pastas, the new location will offer classic Caesar and salati fresca salads, antipasti to-go plates, tiramisu and other rotating homemade desserts plus a large variety of local wines and beers. Build out begins in November and the restaurant should be open for business in February 2016.
