Woodinville Whiskey will be ready to taste at this year's Wine vs. Whiskey event

This week is jam-packed with tasty tasting possibilities, including the first-ever Seattle-centric BREW. It somehow seems fitting that the provocatively titled Wine vs. Whiskey should fall on Friday, covering all the booze bases.

The showdown pits six wineries against six local distilleries at The Loft at Russell’s in Bothell. Sippers vote on their faves and a winner is announced at the end of the evening when the event might be re-branded as wine before whiskey.

Participating wineries include Matthews, Lantz Cellars, Kestrel, Alexandria Nicole, A to Z, and Flying Dreams going mano-e-mano against Woodinville Whiskey, Dry Fly, Oola, JP Trodden, Ghost Owl, and Skip Rock distilleries. If ever a tasting screamed out for a designated driver, it’s this one and high fives to organizers for offering a $20 ticket to the DD. (Available at the door.)

A whole bunch of bites--including plenty of sweet stuff--will also be served.

The competition begins at 7. Tickets are $55.
