Reclaimed wood and tall ceilings, guitar rock playing loudly, an absolutely stellar beer list, a crowd made up almost entirely of men and, of course, sausages galore: The Wurst Place is South Lake Union’s undisputed man cave. Bob Liptak, who co-owns the restaurant with his sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Mike Parent, used to own a small deli on the East Coast, and he’s not fooling around: His chalkboard menu of a dozen-plus sausages features a rotating selection that includes a supremely gamey (in a very good way!) venison, rabbit and bacon; spicy bison; and duck, bacon and jalapeño, alongside less adventurous, excellent quality forcemeats such as brats and kielbasa.

Each sausage ($7.50–$8.50) is served on a sturdy bun with as much or as little kraut, onions, sweet and/or hot peppers as you can take, with assorted mustards and sauces nearby. The twice-fried fries ($3.50/$5) are good, too. Bonus: Sunday football brunches, served all season. Go Hawks!
