“Made up of dreamers, makers and doers in the Pacific Northwest” is how Cambria Cox describes The Field Trip Society, the service she launched late last year to provide adults with the sort of mini, mostly out-of-the-classroom adventures we all loved as kids. “I wanted to provide opportunities for grown-ups to have some fun, too—without the permission slip.” The Field Trip Society’s events connect curious adults with knowledgeable and passionate experts in a wide range of fields, such as Seattle magazine’s own foraging guru, Langdon Cook. Previous events have included truffle-hunting excursions, macramé lessons and a pie-making class.
Coming up this spring: Put that brave foodie foot forward with a French macaron crafting class in a private home in Madrona, venture outside for an edible foraging quest on Tiger Mountain, or secure a spot in a flower-arranging workshop at Bitter/Raw on Capitol Hill.
