WHY WE LOVE HIS LOOK: Pacific Northwest Ballet principal dancer Postlewaite spends much of his life on stage in dramatic costumes; off stage, he channels that same energy into his off-beat personal style in statement kilts, fur vests and skinny jeans as tight as his stage wear. “There is still an element of costuming in my everyday life,” he explains. “I like to have an unexpected twist, a great jacket or gold lamé sneakers just for fun.” Postlewaite takes cues from the hip Euro fashions he spots while performing overseas with husband Olivier Wevers’ dance company Whim W’Him (his new favorite find: a pair of wild dropped-crotch shorts) and mixes them in confident style with locally-made bowties and clearance-rack finds normally passed over by Seattle men, like one of the pieces he’s often seen wearing: his outlandish sleeveless fur vest. THE ENSEMBLE: Trovata purple, cream and black cotton plaid shirt with contrasting plaid detail on shirt cuff, from Gilt.com; plaid silk and linen scarf and Humor dropped-crotch electric blue shorts, Copenhagen finds; John Varvatos brown leather lace-up half boots, from Barney’s New York; jade bracelet from China, Rolex watch, borrowed from husband.
