A show-stopper snack in South Lake Union.

In the oh-so-civilized space that once housed chocolatier extraordinaire Claudio Corallo, Marie & Frères lives on in similar, elegant style.

Owner Marie-Francoise Barnhart regularly travels to single-estate chocolate growers to select the chocolate for the store’s truffles, cocoa nibs and confections. (The shop currently uses organic fair-trade chocolate from South America.)

And while chocolate connoisseurs are well served in the store, there’s something for the rest of us, too: zinging passion fruit sorbet pops (custom made for Marie & Frères at Mistral Kitchen, down the street; $3), so ripe with tropical fruit that they’ll stop you in your tracks.

The sorbet is covered in silken dark chocolate, and one end is covered with chopped roasted nuts. As grown-up treats go, these babies are boss.
