1. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in Smell-O-Vision
See the classic 1971 film the way it was meant to be experienced: in Smell-O-Vision. Courtesy of kooky film-enhancement team The Action Pack, the treats on screen leap to life in the form of goodie bags filled with aromatic, edible sweets, while an audience script encourages live sing-alongs and shout-outs (à la The Rocky Horror Picture Show). Golden ticket not required. 12/10–12/12. Times vary. $12–$14. SIFF Cinema, 321 Mercer St.; 206.324.9996; siff.net

2. Seattle on the cheap
In his new guidebook, The Cheap Bastard’s Guide to Seattle (Globe Pequot Press; $14.95), Seattle magazine contributor David Volk uncovers hundreds of ways to gain free (and legal!) entry to local plays, concerts, art shows and yoga classes. You can pester him to reveal even  more secrets at this reading. 12/6. 7 p.m. Free. University Book Store, 4326 University Way NE; 206.634.3400; ubookstore.com
