THINGS TO DO: The Lake Chelan Winterfest (1/11/2013–1/13 at Manson Bay Marina, 195 Wapato Way, Manson, WA, and 1/18–1/20 in downtown Chelan, 217 E Woodin Ave. Times and prices vary. 800.424.3526; lakechelanwinterfest.com). Two weekends of winter fun include an ice-sculpting competition, live music and snow tubing. Bundle up: Brews and ice collide in the ice lounge, where beer is served in ice mugs and patrons lounge on a couch sculpted of ice. The guided Winter Ale Walk features beer from local Lake Chelan and Iron Horse breweries.

BREATHE: Mountain meditators can try “snowga,” which combines a snowshoe hike with an outdoor yoga class and breathtaking views of Lake Chelan.

BRRR: The bravest and boldest finish off the fest with the Polar Bear Splash in the freezing cold lake.

GETTING THERE: From Seattle, take Interstate 90 east; take exit 85 for State Route 970 north and follow signs to Wenatchee. Merge onto U.S. 2 East/U.S. 97 North toward Spokane. Follow signs to Chelan.
