On November 3, British designer Stella McCartney paid a visit to downtown Seattle’s Nordstrom flagship store just days before the debut of her inaugural menswear collection. The line borrows signature elements of McCartney’s ready to wear for women, such as bold embroidery and an effortless fit, with pieces inspired by the designer’s male influences, namely her father, iconic musician and Beatles front man Sir Paul McCartney, and husband Alasdhair Willis, currently the creative director of Hunter.
McCartney told us, “For me, when I think about the Stella man of course I reflect on the men in my life. I look to my husband, my father, to my friends, to people that have inspired me; artists, musicians, filmmakers, you know, great men in the world, both historically and today, to tomorrow.”
McCartney debuted the line in London just across the street from the Abbey Road recording studio, made famous by her father. The 24-look collection walks the line between classic cuts and a modern edge, with pieces ranging from gentleman’s overcoats to football scarves all sustainably designed consistent with the designer’s cruelty-free creed.
