NuBe Green (Capitol Hill, 1527 10th Ave.; 206.402.4515) really makes green beautiful—from vintage blanket-covered club chairs and salvaged wood furniture to handmade Pebble vases ($14–$26) from Seattle’s Material Good, which benefit good causes. It even has a rental service, complete with charming reclaimed place settings, vintage bud vases and candelabras, to make your next shindig sustainable.
As well as a source for great salvaged materials, the RE Store (Ballard, 1440 NW 52nd St., 206.297.9119; also in Bellingham) designs furniture—from cabinets to outdoor arbors—made from reclaimed materials in its “REvision Division.”
It’s a cornucopia of cool stuff at Second Use (SoDo, 3223 Sixth Ave. S; 206.763.6929), where, on any given day, you might uncover that perfectly authentic Craftsman door or a vintage picnic basket ($65). You’re guaranteed to find one-of-a-kind furnishings at Urban Hardwoods (Belltown, 2101 First Ave.; 206.443.8099), which turns Seattle’s salvaged trees into stunning furniture, from a bifold maple coffee table ($3,700) to a chestnut wrapped mirror ($2,600).
Urban Reclamations (SoDo, 2225 First Ave. S; 206.659.6477) does a busy trade in custom installations using reclaimed wood, and also finds time to amass an eclectic collection of vintage and antique goods, from bed frames to Navy mess hall trays.
Find the shabby chicest antique pieces at Poppy Co. (downtown, 1307 First Ave). Co-owned by three women, with three separate businesses—The Modern Cottage Company, Nest and Vintage Hart Designs—united by a love of pre–World War II furniture, the new downtown location joined the original Tacoma spot in November, bringing brightly painted wooden tables, rustic French finds and other objets trouvés to the big city.
