SHOP

Two local boutiques stand out for their contemporary, design-forward offerings. From modern home goods to a namesake clothing line, Manyana sells everyday items crafted by artisans working in Mexico. Take home one of the store’s button-up linen shirts for a souvenir you will actually use. Another must-stop is Evoke, a gallery-type space with a selection of handmade home goods, including pottery, textiles, and art.

EAT

The best dinner in town is making rounds to the street vendors for tamales and tacos (Gaby’s has the top fish tacos around), but if a sit-down situation is more your speed, then Barracuda or Mary’s offer excellent options from ceviche to shrimp tacos. For a morning boost, Anchor Café offers coffee (the vanilla coconut cold brew is delicious), toasts, smoothie bowls, and more.

Escondido is a favorite bar among locals and travelers alike.

DRINK

For craft cocktails made using locally sourced ingredients, pop into Escondido, located up a side street just off Sayulita’s central plaza. There’s a pretty standard selection of libations, but the bar’s minimal black-and-white décor is a refined alternative to some of the shot-and-a-beer specials around town.
