Nordstrom has announced some big changes with its semi-annual sales: The luxury department store is abandoning those four semi-annual sales and instead plans to hold six clearance sales each year. According to The Puget Sound Business Journal, “the six clearance sales will be storewide, rather than broken up by specific department, as the half-yearly sales were. The big July Anniversary Sale will remain unchanged.”
It’s a shame the historic Eitel Building at Second Avenue and Pike Street can’t be fixed up. The rundown locale near Pike Place Market has turned into such a hub for crime and drug activity, while several developers who have tried to purchase it have failed due to its $4.85 million price tag. MyNorthwest and KIRO radio say there are rumors of another potential buyer in the works, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
Crosscut reports that the Woodland Park Zoo is sending its two African elephants, Chai and Bamboo, away after its attempts to rebuild a family and form a herd have failed. Local advocates have been calling for the animals to go to a California sanctuary, but Woodland Park has other plans in the works for the elephants. And not everyone is happy about it.
